Security Locks - Solihull & Worcestershire Here at Blenheim Security Installers we firmly believe that every home and business would benefit from Anti Snap Security Locks. Our goal is to deter intruders from entering your house or business premises.
With many burglaries in Worcestershire and Solihull areas involving a forced door, the average time it takes an intruder to break a basic patio door cylinder lock is just 1-2 minutes. Fitting a security lock is becoming an essential part of home security.
Gaining access to your home or property is shockingly quick by simply snapping the lock barrel. Euro-cylinder locks are common on the majority of UPVC doors and garages. Criminals have developed a method of overcoming this type of lock to then gain access into a home.
The method thieves are using is shockingly quick and quiet, so if you are sleeping you may not even be awoken by the intruder.

Features of an anti snap lock
Anti snap locks are designed to have two sections. These sections are manufactured to enable the door to lock even if a burglar manages to break the front part of the barrel off. These types of locks are designed to prevent access to the inner part of the locking barrel and thereby preventing criminals from accessing the locking mechanism and unlocking your door.
Due to the way these anti snap locks are designed you can also continue using your lock because the locking mechanism section will continue to work until you change the whole lock.
Whether you're upgrading your cylinder locks for the first time, or just want the latest advice, we're here to help.
Standard Euro Locks
The weakness of a standard cylinder is the screw hole that secures the cylinder in your door. When a cylinder sticks out further than 5mm from the edge of your door, a criminal can apply force, snap the lock in the middle which exposes the locking mechanism, making entry easy.
Anti-Snap Euro Security Lock
An Anti-Snap cylinder has a cut made into the end of cylinder body. This is the sacrificial snap line and creates an intentional weak point in the end of the lock.
If a criminal applies the same force as needed to snap a standard lock, the cylinder snaps at this 'weak point' leaving most of the lock intact which shields the actual mechanism from the intruder, preventing access.
The more pins, the greater the level of security. So if a lock has more pins, it will be much harder to pick, drill and bump.
Anti-drill cylinders give several levels of drill protection including ceramic plates and hardened steel pins. With these in place, it's virtually impossible to drill the lock.
Some criminals are skilled at lock picking, and an Anti-Pick cylinder includes special lock pins that prevent this. In general though, a potential thief will try to break in using the easier, but more forceful cylinder snapping method.
Lock bumping is a method burglars use whereby a specifically made key is used to manipulate the lock pins. This type of key is difficult to get hold of, but they make for very quick, very easy entry access, and leave no sign of forced entry. With an Anti-bump cylinder, the specially configured lock pins cannot be manipulated.
